Who is Lama Lena?
Lama Lena (Yeshe Kaytup)
In 1972, Lama Lena started her studies in the monastery of Lama Thubten Yeshe in Nepal. Under the supervision of Lama Yeshe, she stayed there for three years, after which she decided to travel to Tso Pema in India. Eventually she stayed for seven years in retreat, practising in very simple conditions in a small cave above the lake. During twenty five years she travelled extensively with Wangdor Rinpoche as his assistant and translator. Lama Lena also studied Chinese medicine and had her own practice for many years in San Francisco Bay Area. In 2005 she came back to Tso Pema to assist Wangdor Rinpoche. She is now living with her khandro in the mountain above the Lotus lake. When she does not travel, gives teachings or translates, she provides medical assistance to the community of Tibetan refugees, Indian villagers and mountain tribe people. At the request of H.E. Zigar Choktrul Rinpoche and the venerable Wangdor Rinpoche – as well as many western and Tibetan dharma students – she started travelling and giving teachings from the lineages that she holds.
